Delaware State Police arrested a 25-year-old Dover man for burglary and related charges following an incident early Tuesday morning according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Jason Hatchell.
Hatchell said on February 1, 2022, at approximately 4:39 a.m., troopers responded to Harris Towing located at 5360 North Dupont Highway, Dover for a burglary in progress. Troopers responded to a report of a suspect inside of a fenced-in area actively attempting to remove a 2006 Toyota Highlander, according to Hatchell.
Troopers and an officer from Cheswold Police Department were located the suspect inside the fenced area and took him into custody without incident said Hatchell.
The suspect identified as Marquise McQueen was transported to Troop 3. Through investigative means, troopers were able to determine McQueen was the suspect in two previous burglaries at Harris towing in late January added Hatchell. McQueen was then charged with the following crimes:
Burglary Third Degree (Felony)- 3 counts
Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)- 2 counts
Theft Under $1,500- 2 counts
Attempted Theft Under $1,500
Carrying a Concealed Dangerous Instrument
Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree-3 counts
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
McQueen was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $9,601 secured bond.
