Wilmington Police Make Arrest In January Shooting

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old in connection with a January 30 shooting incident officials said Wednesday.

Police said on January 30 at approximately 4:37 p.m., police responded to the 1900 block of Prospect Road in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Police located a 17-year-old male gunshot victim who arrived at the hospital in stable condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Kevin Nolan of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Nolan identified 18-year-old Gianni Ramos as a suspect according to police. Warrants for his arrest were obtained, and on February 22, Ramos was located by members of the United States Marshals Service Task Force in the 600 block of Homestead Road.

Ramos has been charged with the following offenses:
Assault (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Discharging a Firearm on a City Street

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $80,001 cash-only bail.
