County Officer Forced To Shoot Dog In Newark On Thursday

On Thursday patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to a domestic incident in the 600 block of Tamara Circle in the development of Harmony Hills.

Officials said as the officer walked from his vehicle to the scene, a dog resembling a pit-bull terrier crossed the street and ran at the officer. The officer attempted to get back inside his vehicle, but the dog kept running at him.

Police said that the officer was unfortunately forced to draw his firearm and shoot the dog.

The dog was located and transported to a local animal hospital where it was treated for its wounds.

No other injuries were reported.
