Three Hospitalized After Thursday Morning House Fire In Bear

At approximately 4:03 a.m. the New Castle County Paramedics were requested to respond to the unit block of West Country Drive, in the Country Creek neighborhood, in Newark, for an active structure fire with possible entrapment.

Prior to the arrival of Fire and EMS, the New Castle County Police arrived on scene and confirmed all occupants were out of the structure. The first arriving fire department units reported fire showing and confirmed the occupants of the residence had self-extricated from the home. A total of three patients were treated and transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton.

Their conditions were as follows:
• A 49-year-old female was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to the hospital in critical condition.
• A 56-year-old male was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to the hospital in serious, but stable condition.
• A 29-year-old female was treated for smoke inhalation and an extremity injury, she was transported in stable condition.

The Delaware Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
