Troopers Investigating Dewey Beach Police Officer-Involved Fatal Shooting

Delaware State Police were on scene overnight conducting an investigation into the fatal officer-involved shooting in the area of Saulsbury Street in Dewey Beach.

Just after 1:15 Saturday morning Dewey Beach Police were called to the Starboard Restaurant and Bar located at 2009 DE-1 in Dewey Beach, for reports of a patron leaving with a gun. according to police.

When police arrived the man fled on foot and eluded the officers. The man later returned to the restaurant and entered the patio area, according to police. Police were once again called to the restaurant. As the arriving officers attempted to contact the man he again fled from officers down Saulsbury Street where he was located in an alleyway. Troopers say that a Dewey Beach Police Officer discharged their weapon. The subject was later pronounced deceased.
