Happening Now: Accident In Lewes Sends Two To Trauma Center By Air

Just after 8:40 Friday morning rescue crews from the Lewes Fire Company along with Sussex County Medics, Trooper 2 were alerted to a motor vehicle accident in the area of 16218 Coastal Highway in Lewes.

Responding crews learned that the accident had been upgraded to an accident with entrapment. Command asked Sussex Dispatch to alert the next due rescue which brought Rescue 85 from the Milton Fire Department.

First arriving on scene confirmed two patients with one being trapped. As crews worked to free the trapped patient Command alerted Sussex that Trooper 2 would be utilized and requested a second helicopter. LifeNet 2 was then dispatched.

At 9:07 Command reported that the patient had been freed from the vehicle.

Trooper 2 had just arrived at Christiana Hospital minutes before this story was posted. LifeNet is still en route and should land shortly.
