Detectives have made an arrest in reference to a homicide that occurred in Lindenwold last Friday, announced Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Lindenwold Police Chief Michael P. McCarthy, Jr.
MacAulay said Trayshawn Simpson, 20, of Camden, was charged on Saturday, April 23, 2022, with one count of first-degree Murder in reference to the homicide of Alvin Redd, 25, of Lindenwold. Simpson was taken into custody in New Castle, Delaware at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the U.S. Marshals Service First State Regional Fugitive Task Force – Wilmington, Delaware Division.
On Friday, April 22, 2022, at approximately 8:09 p.m., officers from the Lindenwold Police Department responded to the 400 block of West Park Avenue in Lindenwold for multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located Redd lying in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to Jefferson Hospital-Stratford, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:47 p.m. Another man, a 29-year-old Camden resident, also was injured during a physical altercation related to the shooting and later arrived at Jefferson Hospital-Stratford for treatment.
Simpson will be held at a correctional facility in Delaware pending extradition to New Jersey.
