Man Charged With Stealing Box Truck From DelDOT, Released On His Own Recognizance

Delaware State Police have arrested Alfred Woodward, 37, of Newark, DE, for theft of a motor vehicle and related charges following an incident Thursday morning, according to Public Information Officer, Sergeant India Sturgis.

Sturgis said on May 5, 2022, at approximately 11:46 a.m., Troopers responded to the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) located at 23697 Dupont Boulevard in Georgetown for a reported theft of a motor vehicle. The investigation revealed that a Penske Rental truck was stolen from the parking lot of DelDOT by a male suspect, later identified as Alfred Woodward said Sturgis.

Through investigative efforts, the Dover Police Department located the stolen vehicle, parked on South Governor’s Avenue with Woodward still occupying the vehicle. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3, where he was charged with the following crimes:

Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
Theft Over $1500 (Felony)
Criminal Trespass
Woodward was arraigned by Justice of Peace Court # 2 and released on his own recognizance.
