Family Displaced By Two-Alarm House Fire Caused By Dryer Wednesday

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that this morning’s house fire in Odessa was Accidental, according to Delaware State Fire Marshal Chief Deputy Robert Fox.

Fox said at approximately 11:30 the Odessa Fire Company responded to the 200 block of High Street in Odessa for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival crews found fire and smoke coming from the house. Command called for a 2nd Alarm to assist with the fire. Multiple area fire companies responded to assist.

Deputy Fire Marshals, called to the scene, determined that the fire originated on the first floor and was caused by clothes catching fire in the dryer.

No one was injured in the fire that caused approximately 200,000 dollars in damage said Fox.

The residents are staying with family.
