Just after 1:30, Thursday morning rescue crews responded to the 4300 block of Pyles Ford Road Road in Wilmington for reports of a structure fire.
While en route crews learned that a detached garage fire, with a vehicle inside, was fully involved and threatening a home.
As firefighters worked to bring the fire under control New Castle County Paramedics (NCCEMS) stood by the scene for more than two hours.
NCCEMS Assistant PIO Oliver Kocher said one firefighter was transported to Wilmington Hospital via Talleyville Fire Company ambulance, accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. The patient was in stable condition at the time of transport. Kocher did not say what fire company the injured firefighter was with.
Records show that firefighters remained on scene for more than three and a half hours Thursday morning.
