The Midway rides at the St. Anthony’s Italian Festival will not be operating according to a post on the festival’s Facebook page.
The post has generated hundreds of comments. Some of the comments are from some that are upset that they prepaid for the rides and others are asking why the rides will be closed.
In response to the post, Majestic Midways, the operator of the rides, posted a comment referencing the Wilmington Police Department.
The post and the response is below.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, our Midway rides and games (main Midway and Kiddie Land) will not be open today. We thank you for your patronage of the Midway this year, and welcome you to enjoy great food, music, and traditional Festival fun on this beautiful day! Our entrance gates open at 4PM, and the Festival runs through 10:30PM. We hope to see you!
We are just as unhappy about the situation as everyone else. We were told we could not open. This has NOTHING to do with us, it was NOT our decision. We were scheduled to be there through tonight, there is some false information being said in the comments. Wilmington Police Department could better explain the reason. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, but again it was NOT our decision. As St. Anthony’s has stated cards/credits don’t expire and can be used at a later event or date.
We have an email into Wilmington Police Spokesman, David Karas. We will update this story when additional details become available
