Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a New Castle area Walmart that occurred last night, according to Public Information Officer, Senior Corporal Jason Hatchell.
Hatchell said the incident occurred at approximately 6:01 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Walmart, located at 117 Wilton Boulevard, New Castle, when troopers responded to a report of a robbery.
The investigation determined two male suspects entered the store and approached an employee behind a cash register at a checkout lane. As the suspects were checking out the employee opened the cash drawer. One suspect reached over and held the drawer open as the second suspect walked around the counter while implying that he had a gun, according to Hatchell.
They removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the draw before fleeing the store. They fled the parking lot in a black sedan towards Route 13. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.
The first suspect was described as a black male in his 20’s, approximately 6’ tall, 180 lbs., wearing all dark clothing and a mask.
The second suspect was described as a black male in his 20’s, approximately 5’5” tall, 180 lbs., wearing all dark clothing and a mask.
