County Police have made an arrest in the stabbing murder that we first told you about yesterday.
On Monday at approximately 12:25 p.m. patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police (NCCPD) were dispatched to Sixth Street in the community of Mayview Manor for a report of a stabbing, according to NCCPD Spokesman M/Cpl. Michel Eckerd.
Eckerd said upon arrival the 33-year-old male victim, Matthew Hessey was located on the front step area of the residence suffering from an apparent stab wound to the torso.
Initial reports from the scene indicated that medics worked on Hessey as officers worked to clear the house. Hessey was transported to Christiana Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Eckard said that Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit develop a 17-year-old male as a suspect. The juvenile is the boyfriend of Matthew’s girlfriend’s daughter added Eckard.
Detectives from the Special Investigations Unit were able to locate the suspect at his residence and take him into custody without incident.
The juvenile was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with one count of felony Murder First Degree, one count of felony Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, and one count of felony Possession of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $1 million dollars cash bail.
