State Police Helicopter Busy Early Saturday Looking For Missing Drivers

Just after 12:51 Saturday morning rescue crews from Aetna. Hose, Hook, and Ladder along with assisting crews were dispatched to a rollover crash on I-95 in the area of the Route 896 offramp.

Upon arrival, crews reported that there was no patient in the truck  Crews also alerted dispatch that there was a significant fuel leak and requested DNREC and HAZMAT 30 for cleanup.

As crews searched the nearby woods they requested Trooper 4 to assist in the search.  Trooper 4, already en route, arrived on scene shortly thereafter and searched the area with their Forward Looking InfraRed Infrared (FLIR) with negative results. After not finding a patient Command cleared all medical crews.

Trooper 4 cleared the scene and was then directed to another accident in the area of Thompson Station and Possum Park Road for a similar search involving an accident. It’s not clear if the driver in this crash was located.

Crews remained on scene at the I-95 accident for about an hour clearing the accident.

Correction: An earlier version of this report indicated that the vehicle involved in the I-95 accident was a van. The story has been corrected.
