State Trooper Reportedly Injured In Early Morning Crash In Bear

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that injured a trooper early Tuesday.

At 3:54 Tuesday morning rescue crews were dispatched to Route 40 at Route 72 in Bear for a motor vehicle accident involving a trooper.

Officials released the following statement regarding the crash.

“Delaware State Police are on the scene of a personal injury motor vehicle collision that occurred today, July 5, 2022, at approximately 5:00 a.m. at the intersection of Pulaski Highway (Route 40) and Wrangle Hill Road (Route 72) in Bear. As a result of the crash, the intersection will be closed for emergency response vehicles at the scene. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes of travel. The road closure is anticipated to be approximately two hours.”

The northbound lanes of Route 72 were closed for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
