New Castle County Police are investigating a shooting that occurred earlier this week.
Officials said on Wednesday evening at approximately 7:18, patrol officers were dispatched to the intersection of Maple Avenue and Stanton Avenue in the community of West Minquidale for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.
When the officers arrived, they located a 20-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. The victim was transported to a local area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Officials said the investigation is still in its early stages and very active.
