Cape Henlopen Annual Youth Fishing Tournament Set For September 10

It’s that time of year! The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park will hold their annual tournament for children 15 and under.

The tournament will be on Saturday, September 10th at the Park Fishing Pier. All entrants receive a free commemorative T-shirt! Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish caught, most fish caught, first and last fish caught.

Local businesses and tackle shops donated fishing-themed prizes, so all entrants will go home with a prize. There will be trophies for winners, and runners-up in each category. Fishing lines drop in the water promptly at 8:00am, so plan on arriving at the pier between 7:00 and 7:30 AM to get a good spot, and a timely start.

There is a $10 entry fee and we’ll have free T-shirts for the first 50 contestants. Look at these happy kids that participated last year!

This activity is also aimed at getting young people interested in the many other activities that the park has to offer. so, if you are not already familiar with the park why not make a day of it and explore further?
