Wilmington Police have charged a man in connection with a July 2020 fatal shooting incident, officials said Thursday.
Authorities said on July 6, 2020, at approximately 6:09 p.m., police were dispatched to the 800 block of East 13th Street in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Police located a 37-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was later identified as Andre Hickson.
The case was assigned to Detective Brian Conkey of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Conkey identified 32-year-old Timothy Thomas as a suspect according to police. The case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment against Thomas.
Thomas, who was already incarcerated on unrelated charges, has been charged with the following offenses in reference to this fatal shooting incident:
Murder (First Degree)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was given $1,080,000 cash-only bail on the above charges. Thomas remains committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
