At around 9:20 Friday morning a man called Cecil County 911 and reported that he had shot four people and was going to kill himself, said Sheriff Scott Adams at a Friday afternoon press conference.
As deputies responded to the home on Hebron Court, north of Elkton, Maryland, in the Elk Mills area, rescue crews raced to the scene as well. When police arrived on scene they surrounded the home and made entry, finding a man, a woman, and three children that had succumbed to their injuries. The man was found with a handgun near his body according to Adams.
Officials said that deputies first found the man deceased inside the garage. The woman was found shot on the first floor of the home, and the three children were found shot upstairs said Adams.
The names of the deceased are not being released at this time as police have not been able to notify the man’s next-of-kin said Adams.
FSU has learned that several pets were also in the home at the time of the incident. Sources familiar with the 911 call tell FSU that the family dog was referenced during the call. It’s believed that the pets were unharmed. That has not been confirmed by police.
