The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that this morning’s building fire in Talleyville was accidental, according to Delaware State Fire Marshal Chief Deputy Robert Fox.
Fox said the Talleyville Fire Company responded to the Jewish Community Center located at 101 Garden of Eden Road this morning shortly before 4 AM. Upon arrival Firefighters found fire and smoke coming from an outbuilding in the rear of the complex.
Deputy Fire Marshals were called to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the fire. The fire was determined to have originated in an outbuilding on the property that was used to support the outdoor pool and summer camp operations. The fire was caused by a malfunction in an industrial ice-making machine.
No one was injured and the fire caused approximately 150,000 dollars in damage to the building.
Breaking Report
Just before 3:40, Wednesday morning firefighters from the Talleyville Fire Company responded to the Jewish Community Center, located at 101 Garden of Eden Road, in Wilmington for a smoke detector activation.
First arriving reported fire showing from the rear of the structure and later reported fire through the roof. In the radio traffic, Command mentions that the structure is the building near the outdoor pool. Just before 4:10 Talleyville Command reported that the bulk of the fire had been knocked down.
Firefighters from several area companies responded to assist with the fire as well.
Investigators with the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the fire.
