Police Say Shooting Reported At HQ Actually Occurred At Nearby Restaurant

The New Castle County Police have released information regarding a response for reports of a shooting at the Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building on Wednesday.

Just after 5:00 in the evening rescue crews responded to the government building at 3601 North DuPont Highway, for a shooting. Shortly after their arrival crews cleared all incoming units.

Officials released a statement regarding the incident saying a passerby drove to the Division of Police, Public Information Center at the Public Safety Building and informed the officer their vehicle had been shot at while they were at a local fast food restaurant. Due to the report, an ambulance was summoned.

No shots were fired at or near the Public Safety Building. This incident occurred at a nearby location and the investigation was turned over to the Delaware State Police.
