Police Swarm Sparrow Run After Gunfire Erupts

On Sunday afternoon at approximately 2:50 p.m., New Castle County Police were called to the unit block of Teal Circle in the community of Sparrow Run for the report of a burglary in progress, according to Sergeant Tracey Duffy.

Duffy said multiple calls to 9-1-1 were made from residents advising there was a large crowd of people fighting in the area.

Upon entering the neighborhood, officers reported hearing multiple gunshots. Officers then responded to Teal Circle and observed damage to a home that had been struck multiple times with an unknown caliber of weapon.  There were no reports of any injuries.

An FSU reader reported that five individuals were pulled out of three vehicles at gunpoint. Duffy did not confirm those details.

This investigation is active and ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information or anyone who was a witness to this incident to please contact the Division of Police by dialing 302-573-2800.
