Investigators Release Cause Of Watergate at Milford Fire

Deputy state fire marshals have concluded the investigation into the February 5, 2023, Watergate at Milford fire, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio said the fire originated inside a ground-floor, attached garage due to an electrical malfunction in the electric service panel. This fire has been determined to be accidental.

The blaze, reported shortly after 8:00 pm, occurred in the 7100 block of Elgin Drive in the Watergate at Milford complex. The Carlisle Fire Company responded to the fire along with neighboring mutual aid fire companies.

The fire damaged a three-story, occupied townhouse causing approximately $100,000 in damage, including exposure damage to five other units. Several residents were displaced. The American Red Cross has been notified to provide emergency assistance to those in need.
