County Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred in New Castle Friday night.
Officials said at approximately 9:44 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Moores Lane in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they learned that a silver Honda Civic operated by a 21-year-old woman was traveling in the northbound lane at which time it crossed the yellow line and veered into the southbound lane directly into the path of a red Chevrolet Equinox which was being operated by a 52-year-old woman.
The driver of the Honda Civic along with a 21-year-old female passenger and a 20-year-old male passenger was transported to a Christiana Hospital.
The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox along with a 29-year-old female passenger was also transported by ambulance to Christiana Hospital. A 29-year-old female passenger of the Equinox was pronounced deceased.
Initial reports from the scene indicated that the nature of the injuries were very serious at the time of transport. Officials did not release information regarding injuries.
Breaking Report
Just before 9:45, Friday evening rescue crews from the Goodwill, Minquas, and Hollaway Terrace Fire Companies along with New Castle County Paramedic and Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 4 responded to the 800 block of Moores Lane in New Castle for an accident with multiple injuries.
Upon arrival, crews reported that three patients were trapped and began working to free them. A subsequent report that there was a total of five patients brought two additional ambulances to the scene.
A total of five patients were transported to the Trauma Center. There are additional details that will be released once the police release an official report.
