Students Evacuated From Multiple Buildings At UD Due To “Safety Related Incident”

Update: the University of Delaware has just alerted its students and staff that there will be a detonation on the Green shortly – This is in connection to the earlier incident at the lab

UD EHS and the Delaware State Police EOD will be conducting a controlled detonation on Center Green. There will be a loud noise associated with the detonation.

Continue to avoid the area and follow instructions from UDPD/Fire.

The Delaware State Police Bomb Squad, DNREC emergency crews, and the University of Delaware Police are on scene at the University of Delaware for what officials are calling a safety related incident.

Sources tell FSU that they are being told that officials are investigating a dangerous compound at the Lamont Dupont Lab that may be explosive. Lab workers have been told to stop all work and leave the building. FSU is withholding the name of the compound until officials confirm the information

As a result of the incident authorities have evacuated and closed Memorial Hall, Alison Hall, Hugh Morris Library, Brown Lab, and Drake Lab

The University of Delaware Police issued the following statements on their Twitter account and have alerted students via internal messaging.

UDPD and EHS are investigating a safety related incident at the Lammot Dupont Lab located at 175 The Green Lane. The building is closed until further notice.
