Chester Man Facing First Degree Murder In Wilmington Death

Wilmington Police have charged a Chester man in connection with a February fatal shooting incident.

Officials said on February 1, at approximately 9:52 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Bowers Street, in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Upon arrival, officers located a gunshot victim, 34-year-old Antoine Caceres, who had succumbed to his injuries.

The case was assigned to Detective John O’Connor Jr. of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective O’Connor identified 30-year-old Leroy Williams of Chester, PA as a suspect, and obtained warrants for his arrest.

On February 9, members of the United States Marshals Task Force took Williams into custody in Brookhaven, Pennsylvania without incident. On March 10, Williams was extradited to Delaware and charged with Murder (First Degree), Attempted Murder (First Degree), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Burglary (First Degree).

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2,120,000 cash-only bail.
