Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single motor vehicle collision that occurred in the Felton area yesterday afternoon.
Officials said on March 2, 2023, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a 2013 Mazda 5 was traveling eastbound on Carpenters Bridge Road east of Roesville Road, in Felton approaching a moderate right curve. For unknown reasons, the Mazda crossed the westbound lane and traveled off the north edge of the roadway. The front of the Mazda then struck a tree.
The 75-year-old male operator from Frederica was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Identification of the victim is pending notification to the next of kin.
Carpenters Bridge Road was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the crash was investigated and the roadway was cleared.
