Police: Man Ambushed Officer Sitting In Patrol Vehicle

Officials said on Monday a Selbyville Police Officer was ambushed by 25-year-old Anselmo Chun-Niz.

Police said Anselmo Chun-Niz approached a fully marked patrol vehicle at the Selbyville Police Department located at 1 W Church Street. He then opened the driver’s door and began attacking the officer inside officials said.

He was taken into custody and brought inside the building where he continued to actively resist. He was charged with Resisting Arrest, Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer, and Disorderly Conduct.

Anselmo Chun-Niz was arraigned by the Justice of The Peace Court 3 resulting in a committal to Sussex Correctional Institution.
