Women Killed In Tuesday Morning Crash Identified

The Delaware State Police have identified the woman who died in a fatal single motor vehicle crash on April 11, 2023, in the Wilmington area as Tyerra Weddington, 25, of Wilmington, Delaware.

Early this morning, Delaware State Police were on the scene of a fatal single-vehicle crash in the Wilmington area.

At around 1:31 am on April 11, 2023, a 2007 Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound on Interstate 95 in the left middle lane, approaching the overpass for Route 141. Police said the Impala veered to the right and crossed the right middle and right lanes. During this time, the Impala began to rotate in a clockwise direction, entering the right shoulder, where the front left of the vehicle crashed into the guard rail, detaching it and piercing the driver’s side of the Impala.

The 25-year-old female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identification has yet to be released, pending notification to her next of kin.

Her 28-year-old female passenger was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries police said. Police said that both women were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The three right lanes of southbound Interstate 95 were closed for around five hours while police investigated the crash and cleared the roadway.
