Police: Two In Custody For New Castle City Armed Robbery

New Castle City Police (NCPD) have arrested and charged two suspects in connection with a robbery that occurred in Penn Valley Park last December.

Officials said on December 29th, 2022, at approximately 1:40 in the morning, officers were dispatched to the park following reports of gunshots fired in the area. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a victim who had been robbed and shot at by at least two suspects according to police. The victim was not injured during the incident.

After conducting a lengthy investigation into the incident, NCPD detectives were able to identify Deidrick Dyton, a 25-year-old resident of New Castle, and Andrew Rodriguez, a 22-year-old from New Jersey, as two of the suspects involved in the robbery officials said.

Dyton was arraigned on charges of robbery, possession of a weapon, and conspiracy and was subsequently remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections. Meanwhile, Rodriguez is being held in the Salem County Correctional Facility in Salem, New Jersey, awaiting extradition to face the same charges as Dyton.
