Police Update Bear Shooting That Hospitalized One

Shooting Investigation in Bear Continues as New Castle County Police Seek Information

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Bear. The incident took place on Thursday, May 25, 2023, just after 12:00 a.m. Patrol officers initially responded to the intersection of Carvel Lane and South Sherman Drive following reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found that the patient had left the scene of the shooting. Officers then located the 27-year-old male victim man about three quarters of a mile away from the shooting location. He had sustained a gunshot wound police said Thursday. The man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries according to police. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed to the public.
