Two Commerical Trucks Overturn Closing NB Route 1

A rollover crash occurred just after 12:15 p.m. on Monday in the northbound lanes of Route 1 in Smyrna, prompting a response from Kent County rescue crews.

The initial report indicated that a dump truck carrying stones had overturned, obstructing the road. Upon arrival, crews discovered an additional overturned box truck just north of the first vehicle.

As a result of the accident, the roadway has been closed to allow crews to work on clearing the scene. Motorists are being diverted onto Route 13 as an alternative route. Fortunately, both drivers involved in the incident escaped serious injury, according to initial reports from the scene. One patient was evaluated by medics at the scene.

Authorities are actively working to resolve the situation and reopen the affected section of Route 1. Commuters are advised to follow the diversions and exercise caution in the area until the roadway is fully cleared and reopened.
