The Delaware State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a fatal collision that took place in the Camden-Wyoming area last night.
At around 9:21 Wednesday evening, a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound on Willow Grove Road, approaching the intersection at Fivefoot Prong Lane, at a high rate of speed according to police. As the vehicle approached a slight curve in the road, the driver lost control of the car, causing it to veer off the south (right) side of the roadway. The Malibu continued for approximately 300 feet before colliding with a tree, resulting in a subsequent fire.
The driver of the Malibu, who has yet to be publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Authorities have confirmed that there were no passengers in the vehicle at the time of the collision, and no other vehicles were involved.
In response to the incident, emergency services responded to the scene to assess the situation and ensure the safety of the area. Willow Grove Road was temporarily closed for approximately four hours as law enforcement officials conducted their investigation and worked to clear the wreckage.
