Man Dies After Asking Neighbor To Call 911

Wilmington Police are currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday afternoon, around 2:15 p.m., in the unit block of East 23rd Street. The incident resulted in the death of a 37-year-old male who succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The chaotic scene unfolded as gunshots rang out. Witnesses called 911 and reported hearing at least one gunshot, prompting immediate calls to emergency services.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the man lying in the street, gravely injured from at least one gunshot wound. FSU is told that the victim managed to tell a local resident nearby that he was shot and asked them to call 911, just before he collapsed due to the severity of his injuries.

The man was transported to an area hospital for immediate medical treatment. However, despite their best efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.

The Wilmington Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident. As of now, no further details regarding the motive, potential suspects, or any additional information about the incident have been released.
