The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is currently investigating a tragic house fire that occurred this afternoon, claiming the life of one individual. The incident took place in the unit block of Angola Road within the Castle Hills development. The Good Will Fire Company responded to a distress call reporting a house engulfed in flames shortly before 1:30 pm.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met with smoke billowing from the one-story, ranch-style home. Fire crews launched an immediate attack on the blaze, focusing on both extinguishing the fire and rescuing any potential occupants trapped inside.
In the course of their efforts, firefighters conducted a thorough search of the interior. Tragically, the search led them to discover the lifeless body of a victim in one of the bedrooms. At this time, the identity of the deceased and additional details remain undisclosed pending further investigation.
Deputy state fire marshals are currently working diligently to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The victim’s body has been transported to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, where an autopsy will be conducted.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the house fire resulted in heavy damages amounting to approximately $100,000. In light of this devastating event, the American Red Cross responded to the scene, offering emergency assistance to one resident affected by the fire.
