Pennsylvania Man Charged In Delaware Bank Robbery

Yesterday the Delaware State Police arrested 40-year-old Antonio Harper of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania for a bank robbery that occurred in Bear earlier this month.

On June 16, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., troopers responded to a bank robbery that had occurred at the Wells Fargo located at 1601 Governors Place. Officials said during the robbery, the suspect gave a note to a bank teller and demanded money. He fled from the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and was not located.

Detectives from the Troop 2 Robbery Unit began investigating the case. With help from the New Castle City Police Department, Wilmington Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, detectives were able to identify Antonio Harper as the suspect. On the morning of June 27, 2023, troopers contacted Harper at the Fairview Inn in Wilmington, and he was taken into custody without incident. Harper was taken to Troop 2 and charged with the following crimes:

  • Robbery First Degree (Felony) – 3 counts
  • Terroristic Threatening
  • Failure to Comply With Taking of Photographs and Fingerprints

Harper was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $228,500 cash bond.

Officials have not said if Harper is a suspect in several other bank robberies that occurred earlier this month.
