Reports: Investigators Conducting Death Investigation After Middletown Fire

Tragedy struck in Middletown this morning, when a fire broke out at 12 West Main Street, resulting in damage to the building.

The incident was reported in the early hours of Friday morning at 3:54 am, as callers witnessed smoke and flames billowing from the windows of the two-story mixed-use building

Responding to the emergency, the firefighters from the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, along with mutual aid from neighboring fire companies, rushed to the scene. The company’s Chief arrived first and confirmed the fire’s location on the second floor of the structure, which also houses Sully’s Irish Pub.

Firefighters quick action in attacking the fire played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring units.

At the time of reporting, fire investigators had not released an official damage estimate or information on any injuries resulting from the incident.

First State Update has learned that one person was found dead and that investigators are conducting a death investigation.
