Teen Charged In Stabbing, Released On Unsecured Bond

New Castle County Police Detectives have charged a 15-year-old male from Newark with assault following a stabbing that happened earlier this month.

Officials said on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., Patrol Officers were dispatched to the unit block of Teal Circle – Newark in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival at the scene, Officers located a 15-year-old victim who sustained a stab wound to his midsection. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

Through interviews and investigative steps, Detectives were able to identify the suspect as a 15-year-old male from Newark officials said Thursday. The investigation showed that the victim and suspect physically fought earlier in the day. The suspect then left the scene and returned later with a knife at which time he stabbed the victim police say. The suspect then ran from the scene prior to police arriving.

Detectives charged the suspect with one felony count of assault in the first degree and one count of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. The suspect was arraigned on his charges on Friday, June 23, 2023, by New Castle County Family Court. Bail was set at $10,000.00 unsecured and he was later released.
