Delaware Purchases Infant Formula For Families In Need

Delaware has recently taken a step to address the shortage of infant formula by partnering with Donate Delaware, a non-profit organization, to assist families in need. In a move that utilizes taxpayers’ money, the state government has allocated funds to purchase 44,000 canisters of FDA-approved Care infant formula. The primary objective is to alleviate the burden faced by Delaware families who are struggling to locate and afford formula for their infants.

To ensure efficient distribution, the Food Bank of Delaware, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware, and local community organizations have joined forces with the state government. These trusted organizations will serve as distribution points to ensure that the formula reaches families residing in high-needs areas across the state.

In order to receive the Care infant formula, families must prove their residency in Delaware. Valid forms of proof include a photo ID issued by the State of Delaware, a government-issued ID, or a printed mail or billing statement with a Delaware address. This requirement ensures that the resources are specifically targeted toward assisting Delaware residents who are facing challenges in accessing infant formula.

Several locations have been designated throughout Delaware to facilitate the distribution of the formula. Families residing in New Castle County can visit locations such as the Boys & Girls Club on Darley Road in Wilmington, Canaan Baptist Church in New Castle, Delaware Regional Dream Center in Newark, and the Food Bank of Delaware in Newark. In Kent County, the Food Bank of Delaware in Milford and the Boys & Girls Club in Milford and Smyrna Clayton will be serving as distribution points. Families in Sussex County can access the infant formula through locations such as the Boys & Girls Club at The Growing Tree Preschool in Millboro, the Dagsboro Boys & Girls Club, First State Community Action in Georgetown, and the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club in Seaford.

It is important for families to stay informed about the distribution locations and pick-up information, as the availability of the formula may vary depending on inventory levels.
