In the early hours of July 10, 2023, the Delaware State Police were called to investigate a carjacking that occurred on New Castle Avenue near Cherry Lane. The incident took place at approximately 3:58 a.m., and the authorities are actively seeking information to help apprehend the suspects involved.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 42-year-old woman was driving on New Castle Avenue when she was suddenly rear-ended by another vehicle several times. Startled by the impact, she brought her car to a stop. Two individuals from the other vehicle approached her car, brandishing firearms and demanding that she exit the vehicle according to police.
Fearing for her safety, the victim complied with the suspects’ demands, and they took possession of her car. Both vehicles then fled the scene, heading northbound on New Castle Avenue. The victim was not physically harmed during the carjacking.
The Delaware State Police’s Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit has taken charge of the case. Detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information pertaining to the crime to come forward.
