Officials said the Family Dollar store located at 1914 Maryland Avenue in Wilmington, was the scene of a robbery on Sunday morning, July 9, 2023. T
he Delaware State Police are currently investigating the incident, which involved an unknown black female suspect demanding money from the store’s employees.
According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred at approximately 9:49 a.m. when the suspect entered the store and proceeded to the register area. The woman approached the employees and demanded money. The suspect then threatened the employees, claiming to possess a firearm and vowing to use it if her demands were not met police said.
Faced with the prospect of violence, the employees complied with the suspect’s demands. Without hesitation, the suspect fled from the premises on foot, clutching an undisclosed amount of cash. Despite the quick response from law enforcement, troopers were unable to apprehend the suspect as she fled into the surrounding area.
There were no reported injuries resulting from the robbery.
Law enforcement officials have provided a preliminary description of the suspect, identifying her as a black female clad in dark-colored clothing.
