Police: Armed Robbery Suspect Released On Own Good Name

Wilmington Police apprehended a 14-year-old male juvenile on charges of robbery and possession of a firearm. The arrest took place on June 25th around 8:30 p.m. in the 500 block of East 10th Street, where members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to a report of an armed robbery.

According to witnesses, an individual informed the officers that they had just been robbed at gunpoint. The officers began their search for the suspect and shortly afterward, in the 800 block of Towne Court, the officers attempted to approach a person matching the suspect’s description. However, upon seeing the police, the individual fled on foot, prompting a brief chase according to police.

Fortunately, the pursuit ended quickly as the officers managed to apprehend the 14-year-old juvenile male without any further incident. Additionally, law enforcement officers discovered and seized a loaded 9mm handgun during the arrest, solidifying the seriousness of the situation.

The charges brought against the suspect include first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and resisting arrest.

After the arrest, the 14-year-old was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and was released on his own recognizance.
