Police Update Tuesday’s High-Speed Chase Across NCC

Officers from the New Castle County Division of Police have arrested three suspects following a county-wide crime spree.

Police said n Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Patrol Officers were dispatched to numerous thefts from motor vehicles in the following communities: Odessa Chase, Preserve at Robinson Farm, Fairway at Odessa National, Avonbridge, Goldsborough Farms, and Spring Creek. The thefts occurred during the overnight hours from July 17th to July 18th. During one of the incidents in Goldsborough Farms, the suspects were able to steal a white Jeep Grand Cherokee. The suspects then drove around to multiple communities conducting additional thefts while using the Jeep.

While Officers were investigating the incidents, they were able to locate the stolen Jeep near the unit block of Court Drive – Wilmington. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the suspects fled from the area. Officers initiated a pursuit and chased after the vehicle. The pursuit was later stopped due to the suspects traveling at 100 plus miles per hour.

With the assistance of the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, Officers located the vehicle near the 200 block of Stroud Street in Wilmington. At the scene, the suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee. Three suspects were then apprehended by Officers without incident. A fourth suspect wearing all black and a ski mask is still outstanding currently. The suspects and the stolen Jeep were then transported to NCCPD headquarters.

The suspects were identified as:

18-year-old C’Shaun Washington of Newark

15-year-old male juvenile from Wilmington

15-year-old male juvenile from Wilmington.

In total 15 separate cases were cleared and the suspects were charged with 9 felony counts of burglary in the third degree, 9 felony counts of conspiracy in the second degree, 1 felony count of theft of a motor vehicle, 1 felony count of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, three misdemeanor counts of conspiracy in the third degree, 1 misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, five misdemeanor counts of theft, and six misdemeanor counts of attempted theft.

C’Shaun Washington was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace 11 and held in lieu of $61,000.00 cash bail. He was transported to Howard R Young Correctional Institution.

The two juvenile suspects were committed to the New Castle County Detention Center.
