She did it again! The talented young slugger, Gracie Riccio, has once again proven her prowess on the softball field. Just last year, she made headlines as the first representative from Delaware at the MLB Jr Home Run Derby in Los Angeles. And now, she has emerged victorious in the regionals hosted at the Phillies Youth Academy in Philadelphia, securing a coveted spot in this year’s national hit off at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
At the age of 14, Gracie is set to compete against eight other regional champions for the US title. Her exceptional performance has earned her a dedicated fan base and the support of her fellow Delawareans. Proud mom, Jacki Riccio is rallying the community to stand behind this talented teenager as she embarks on her journey to the nationals. Jacki is thrilled to be accompanying Gracie on an all-expense-paid trip to Seattle from July 6th to July 11th, with the main competition taking place on Saturday morning.
Right now, at 14-years-old, Gracie plays for a high-level 14u team out of Troy, NY called the Electric City Bombers. Gracie’s achievements on the softball field are nothing short of remarkable. Over the past five years, she has consistently displayed her power and skill, hitting an impressive 18 home runs and maintaining an outstanding batting average of .519. Eight of these home runs were achieved while playing with the Middletown’s East Coast Panthers Fastpitch team.
Gracie’s journey to the national stage began when she participated in the MLB Home Run Derby events held in Los Angeles. Despite being only thirteen years old at the time, she competed in the 16-year-old age group, representing Delaware at Dodger Stadium. Her remarkable performance earned her a commendable fifth-place finish, with four home runs to her name.
Her path to Los Angeles started with the Adventure Sports New Jersey invitation in April, where she qualified for the next stage. On July 1st, Gracie emerged victorious at the regionals held at the Blue Rocks, securing her ticket to attend the thrilling events in Los Angeles. The MLB Jr Home Run Derby provided her with an incredible experience, surrounded by a host of other talented young athletes and engaging in various activities organized by the organization.
As Gracie prepares to represent Delaware once again at the national hit off in Seattle, she carries with her the hopes and well wishes of her community. Let’s come together to support this remarkable young talent as she strives for success on the national stage. Go, Gracie, go!
