The New Castle City Police have made arrests in a home invasion case that took place at Deemer’s Landing Apartment Complex late last April.
The incident, which occurred on the 26th of April, saw armed subjects enter an apartment and demand money from the victim at gunpoint police said this week. The suspects fled in a stolen vehicle, which was later recovered by the authorities. The victim was uninjured.
Through investigation, Detectives identified a juvenile male who they say was involved in the home invasion. The suspect, a 17-year-old resident of New Castle City, was taken into custody and is now facing a slew of charges related to the crime.
Among the charges brought against the juvenile suspect are felony receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, home invasion burglary in the first degree, aggravated menacing, felony theft, and felony conspiracy.
Police said during the arrest, the juvenile male was found in possession of a loaded firearm, leading to additional charges of possession of a firearm by a juvenile and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
At the time of his arraignment, the juvenile was transferred to the Department of Corrections in lieu of bail.
On Friday police announced that a second juvenile has now been arraigned in connection with the Deemer’s Landing Apartment Complex home invasion. This time, it is a 15-year-old male, also from New Castle, who has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, home invasion burglary in the first degree, aggravated menacing, felony theft, and felony conspiracy.
As with the first suspect, the second juvenile remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections while the legal process unfolds.
