Good Samaritans Pull Teen From Vehicle As Car Catches Fire, Two Hospitalized

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that sent two drivers to the hospital Monday evening.

Just after 5:20 on Monday rescue crews responded to a motor vehicle collision with injuries on Foulk Road in the vicinity of Marleton Drive. Upon arrival at the scene, emergency personnel found a two-vehicle collision involving a sedan and a delivery vehicle.

Two individuals were injured as a result of this collision. Although the sedan caught fire, injuries sustained were not related to fire, but rather the impact of the accident itself according to witnesses at the scene. The two injured parties included the operator of the sedan, a 17-year-old female, and the driver of the delivery vehicle, a 25-year-old female.

The operator of the sedan sustained extremity injuries and possible internal injuries according to officials. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was airlifted to Christiana Hospital in Stanton via Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4.

The driver of the delivery vehicle was transported to Wilmington Hospital aboard a Brandywine Hundred ambulance in stable condition.

Witnesses at the scene tell FSU that Good Samaritans pulled the patients from the vehicles before the sedan was engulfed by fire.

Crews from the New Castle County Paramedics, the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company, the Talleyville Fire Company, the Claymont Fire Company, and Trooper 4 responded to the crash.
