Just before 4:30 emergency crews responded to a major traffic collision on I-95 SB at the South Chapel Street underpass in Newark.
The incident, which unfolded today around 4:26 PM, involved multiple vehicles and led to a rollover and reports of many as 8 individuals injured
Aetna Chief Steven Gallaher later update the 911 center, indicating that three patients, all requiring Basic Life Support (BLS), were involved in the incident. Advanced Life Support (ALS) personnel were canceled and additional ambulances were recalled.
As part of the response, three individuals were transported to a hospital following the crash. The road remains obstructed by multiple vehicles and police are conducting an investigation.
Traffic congestion in the southbound lanes extends beyond Route 141 at last check. I-95 NB is also backed up due to onlookers. Check the Facebook page for multiple photos from the scene.
