Police Arrest Teen Linked To Two Armed Robberies: A Closer Look At The Case

In a series of actions by the Wilmington Police, a male juvenile has been arrested in connection to two separate armed robberies that occurred within the city.

The first incident took place on July 30, at 6:52 p.m., when authorities were alerted to an armed robbery in the 400 block of North Scott Street. Members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the area to investigate before handing the case over to Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Through his investigation, Detective Wilkers identified the 17-year-old male juvenile as a prime suspect officials said Friday. The evidence and information led to the issuance of arrest warrants for the suspect according to police.

Just a few days later, on August 4, at 8:24 p.m., another armed robbery unfolded in the 400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard. The investigation into this incident resulted in the same 17-year-old male juvenile being identified as the suspect according to police.

On August 5, at 11:03 p.m. While patrolling the 500 block of North Scott Street, officers spotted the wanted juvenile. officials said iIn an attempt to evade capture, the young suspect fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, ultimately leading to the apprehension of the 17-year-old without further incident.

A loaded .45 caliber handgun and a quantity of heroin were found during a search of the suspect police said Friday.

The individual is facing multiple charges, including four counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, three counts of First Degree Robbery, two counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, two counts of Second Degree Conspiracy, two counts of Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony, Second Degree Unlawful Imprisonment, Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

He faced arraignment in Justice of the Peace Court 11. The judge ordered his commitment to the New Castle County Juvenile Detention Center on a cash-only bail amounting to $128,600.
