Police Investigating Attempted Carjacking In New Castle

The New Castle City Police Department (NCPD) is investigating an attempted carjacking that occurred at the Airport Plaza BJs gas station in New Castle.

Officials said on Friday night, at approximately 10:00 officers responded to that location after receiving reports of an attempted robbery that just occurred.

The victim told officers that he was confronted by an assailant at the BJ gas station. The suspect, brandishing a firearm, approached the victim and demanded the victim’s car keys, money, and wallet police said. The situation escalated when the suspect physically assaulted the victim by striking him in the head with the firearm.

The suspect then fled the area before police could be called. The victim was treated at the scene by EMS. New Castle County Police and Delaware State Police assisted with a search of the area for the suspect.
