Quick Response To Newark House Fire Saves Home Tuesday

At 12:30 Tuesday afternoon fire firefighters from Newark’s Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder along with area fire companies were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Delrem Drive due to reports of a house fire.

Upon arriving at the scene, crews reported a fire in the garage. They immediately initiated their attack on the fire. Within moments, crews reported that the fire in the garage was contained and had been extinguished. By 12:45 PM, the fire was officially placed under control.

Radio reports confirmed that a cat was found inside the home. No injuries were reported.

An investigator from the Delaware Fire Marshal’s Office was also dispatched to the scene to investigate the fire’s origin and cause.

Although the smell of a house fire was present at the scene, it did not appear that the fire caused significant damage to the home.
